Get Writing 2011: the VWC Annual Writers' Conference

Get Writing 2011 in pictures: the sheer utter joy of writing.

Verulam Writers' Circle: Get Writing 2011 from Ian Cundell on Vimeo.

A memento of Verulam Writer's Circle's Get Writing Conference, 2011 on 19 February 2011, held at the University of Hertfordshire.

The conference featured TV presenter Sue Cook, together with some of the most senior people in UK publishing (check the tags on Vimeo), giving up their Saturday's to support a volunteer run not-for-profit writers' group.

Geoff Guiver won the Get Writing Conference Cup for his short story "Muse", adjudicated by Lesley Eames, Meena Wells and Sue Cook.

Jenny Barden was conference organiser, ably assisted by Sandra Norval. Mark Clementson was on hand to mastermind the sale of VWC's 2011 Anthology "The Archangel and the White Hart", while Ian Cundell (yours truly), Susan Franklin and Jes Guy cracked the whip on the deeply scary agent-and-editor pitch sessions.

This little film is a big thank you to our speakers, delegates and the other VWC members who pitched in to make the day tick like something nowhere near as clichéd as clockwork.

Get Writing on Radio Verulam

At Get Writing 2011 our friends from Radio Verulam, 92.6fm, the community radio station for St Albans and west Herts, popped along and interviewed organisers, delegates and guest speaker Sue Cook. Elizabeth Herridge reports, as part of Danny Smith's West Herts Drivetime show (sadly, we've had to trim out The Beatles, even though we're sure Macca and Ringo are far too cool to worry about that sort of thing. Bet you can't guess what the song was!).

In part 1 Elizabeth talks to organisers, VWC members and delegates about Get Writing.

In part 2 Elizabeth talks to keynote speaker, TV presenter and novelist Sue Cook.
