If Shakespeare...VWC adopted a new constitution on 16 December 2009. For the first time it is a condition of membership that members respect and protect the intellectual property and creative efforts of fellow members and visitors to the Circle.
Visitors to the Circle are also required to respect and protect the creative efforts of Circle members and other visitors and this is a condition of attending meetings – the only condition other than paying the visitor's fee. There are no requirements to read and visitors are most welcome to come simply to get a flavour of our activities

We hold regular workshops, talks and manuscript evenings (where you can receive friendly, constructive feedback on your work) designed to help new and experienced writers improve their work. Writers from all strands of literary endeavour, published or otherwise, are welcomed to our very friendly group.
Bring along your work in progress for constructive criticism.
Guest speakers present talks on many aspects of writing craft. Recent speakers have included magazine editors, novelists, screenwriters, and sitcom writers. Our programme is challenging and entertaining.
You don't have to be a member to experience us. You can attend any meeting in our programme. Visitors pay £3.00 for most meetings, increased to £5.00 if we have a speaker. We do not charge any fee for our alternate-week meetings at The Six Bells.
Annual membership is a highly reasonable £36 - far more cost effective than the 'pay as you go' method. Full members also gain access to the Members' Area of the website.
Chair: Ian Cundell
Treasurer: John Spencer

Committee members: Lesley Eames, Meena Wells, Kevin Bennett, Mark Clementson, Steve Barley, Jenny Barden, Wendy Turner, Nick Cook (Honorary President).
Whatever your background or ambitions, you will be made very welcome.
We meet at twice a month at:

St Michaels Church,
St Michaels Street,

Additionally, we meet at
The Six Bells
St Michael's Street
St Albans,

The Six Bells is one of the city's most splendid pubs and at the worst you will have nice beer in a pleasant environment with the option of some very nice grub.
Six Bells meetings alternate with the regular, more formal meetings at St Michael's.
