Meetings

We hold regular workshops, talks and manuscript evenings (where you can receive friendly, constructive feedback on your work) designed to help new and experienced writers improve their work. Writers from all strands of literary endeavour, published or otherwise, are welcomed to our very friendly group.

Manuscript Evenings

Bring along your work in progress for constructive criticism.

Guest speakers

Guest speakers present talks on many aspects of writing craft. Recent speakers have included magazine editors, novelists, screenwriters, and sitcom writers. Our programme is challenging and entertaining.

Fees

You don't have to be a member to experience us! You can attend any meeting in our programme. Visitors pay £3.00 for most meetings,  increased to £5.00 if we have a speaker. Manuscript evenings at  The Goat are charged at a nominal fee of £1.00 for members and non-members alike.

Annual membership is a highly reasonable £30 - far more cost effective than the 'pay as you go' method. Full members also gain access to the Members' Area of the website.

Come and find us

Whatever your background or ambitions, you will be made very welcome.

We meet at twice a month at:

The Church Hall,
St Michaels Church,
St Michaels Street,
St Albans,
Hertfordshire
AL3 4SL

Additionally, we meet at

The Goat
Sopwell Lane
St Albans,
(about half way down)

The Goat is one of the city's most historic pub and at the worst you will have nice beer in a pleasant environment.

We have increased our Goat evenings from once a month and now alternate with the regular, more formal meetings at St Michael's.

All meetings last from 8 pm to 10 pm.
