Studying Film

Ian Bell joined the Verulam Writers Circle in 2001, a year after having a non-fiction book published and 14 years after not having a novel published, with a couple of articles printed in between. The book was co-written with two friends, is about the study of film and doesn't bring in much money, despite selling approximately 1200 a year which apparently is reasonable for an academic book! What struck Ian when writing the book was the frequency with which he found himself referring to storytelling when writing about the making of films.
